Context
SE Europe is an area indicated by many experts as the area where a wave of rapid economic development is likely to take place. Its mild climate and natural charms is already creating a surging demand in sectors such as tourism and resort housing. However, tele work schemes are also highly likely to develop, building also on important labour and research capacities of the area. In this, now unfolding, process the construction industry is among the first to be affected and benefit.
How does the education/ research activity in the area build upon this apparently promising setting?
Our workshop seeks to initiate a discussion, to identify needs and opportunities in view of setting up, in the near future, a graduate, Master level, program that would deliver to the industry competent executives, aware of the latest developments in sustainable and quality building technology, including, critical, management and IT aspects of the building process.
This course should be innovative, tightly linked to the industry and looking forward to establish a regional visibility. Metrics for these important key-words need to be developed and agreed upon.
Τhe workshop is carried out in the course of the Tech Transfer project, in the framework of the Leonardo da Vinci Programme, seeking to develop a model for innovation in construction. The workshop is implementation oriented, aspiring to help develop the human and infrastructural conditions for the delivery of this model, in the above context, that of a MSc programme.
